Kidney Disease & Obesity – Healthy Lifestyle for Healthy Kidneys

Last March 9, 2017 the world celebrated World Kidney Day with the theme “Kidney Disease & Obesity – Healthy Lifestyle for Healthy Kidneys” to promote education on the harmful consequences of obesity and its association with kidney disease.

To promote awareness and encourage a healthy lifestyle among its patients and staff, KMatters Taguig Dialysis & Diagnostic Center embarked on a month long campaign highlighted by a poster making contest and Biggest Loser program.  The winners included Mr. Bonifacio Selbijan (Poster Making – Patient Category), Ms. Vanessa Jane Daiz and Ma. Zyrrhien Liwanagan (Poster Making – Staff Category) and Mr. Noel Caasi (Biggest Loser).

Regular exercise and physical activity help to reduce the risk of developing kidney disease.  Moving is a simple yet powerful action that creates a link between our health and our daily routine.  You can walk, jog, run, dance, swim, bike – whatever activity you choose the important thing is to get up and move.  Thirty minutes of moderate exercise at least 4-5 times a week is recommended.
